Head Coach Ryan McDonald

Mike Hatfield enters his second season as the head coach of the Adrian College men's soccer team in 2021.

The former University of Michigan-Dearborn head coach founded both the men's and women's soccer programs at the club level, before taking the men's program to the varsity level in 2012. Within 2 seasons, the program was competing in the WHAC postseason tournament and his 2013 squad remains the top team in school history.

Hatfield's most decorated stint comes at Trenton High School. Since 2012, the Trojans have amassed 8 League Championships, 10 District Championships, 2 Regional Championships and 2 appearances in the MHSAA Final Four. Hatfield has also been instrumental in the success of the Michigan Rush Downriver youth soccer club. He has served as a staff coach since 2007 and oversaw a period of tremendous growth for the club as the Club Director from 2009-2013. He currently holds the USSF B License, with an emphasis on long-term player and team development.

Hatfield has built a reputation on the development of college talent and has played a critical role in the advancement of the Adrian College men's and women's soccer programs. In the past 15 years, nearly 50 of Hatfield's youth players have advanced to college programs, including an astounding 26 players that continued their careers at Adrian College. This impressive list includes 8 All-MIAA selections and 11 MIAA Champions.

"Adrian College is thrilled to have Coach Hatfield join our Men's Soccer program as Head Coach," said Athletic Director Michael Duffy. "Mike has been a huge supporter of Adrian College over the years and his fingerprints are all over the success of our Men's and Women's programs over the past decade. He's a passionate coach with a love of Adrian College that has been apparent for a long time. We're excited to see where Mike is able to take this program in the future."

"I'd like to thank Coach Duffy, Dr. Docking, and Dr. Hribar for giving me this amazing opportunity. Adrian College has always held a special place in my heart. From coaching against Adrian while at UM-Dearborn to supporting former players of mine that have played here, I've always been impressed with the college's academic reputation and athletic success," said Hatfield.

Hatfield continued, "When players of mine have been looking at college options, Adrian has always been at the top of the list, and it's also been at the top of my own list as the perfect coaching destination. I'm looking forward to continuing the success that Charlie and Ryan built with the guys, and I can't wait to get started getting to know the team and preparing for the fall season immediately."
